The 'Tunnel of Shade' is a heat mitigation facility that expresses a dynamic and enjoyable shaded area created with an arch-shaped frame and wire mesh in a three-dimensional curve. The main material, the arch, efficiently disperses wind pressure, and the wood used is larch from Iwate Prefecture. As a wood-based recycled material, it provides a green shade that is considerate of the Earth for pedestrians. Additionally, fine mist is installed inside to further enhance the cooling effect.
